What entrepreneurs can learn from the famous story of rivalry between Ferrari and Lamborghini?

Success brings arrogance with it, if you don’t be cautious enough to keep yourself down to earth it’s dangerous to any successful entrepreneurs. That was the same case with Ferrari and Lamborghini rivalry.

Ferrari and Lamborghini : two Italian Supercars that became household names in the 20th century, both are a symbol of wealth, luxury, and speed. The horse and bull have long been rivals. It all started with one arrogant comment made by Enzo Ferrari the owner of Ferrari. In 1960 Ferrari cars were the status symbol for racing, luxury, and richness. And Lamborghini cars were not born yet.

Ferruccio Lamborghini owner of several successful companies including Lamborghini cars was born into a family of grape farmers, but he was not much interested in farming, his interest was in machines. After serving in the air force during World War II, Ferruccio took advantage of the post-war need for agriculture supplies by using military equipment to make tractors. At this moment his interest in machines helped him very well and quickly he became a successful manufacturer of the tractor with the brand name of Lamborghini. He made some good wealth out of that and as all middle age man has dreamed of owning a car he went onto buying several cars including Ferrari in 1958.

Ferruccio Lamborghini had a deep interest in cars and he also went onto participates in several Car racing. He used to improvise his cars on his own, but with his Ferrari, he had observed clutch problem several time and also went to Ferrari service center to fix this but after several visits, Ferrari mechanic was not able to resolve the same issue. Ferruccio observed some issue with the design of the clutch and decided to meet directly to Enzo Ferrari regarding this. When he met Enzo, he complained about several issues he faced in his car. Enzo didn’t appreciate the young tractor mechanic telling him about the imperfections. Enzo was furious about that and told him “Lamborghini, you may be able to drive a tractor but you will never be able to handle a Ferrari Properly. ‘this begun rivalry between this two legends.

Strong reason behind your work will always be the driving force for any entrepreneur. So this moment started Lamborghini’s passion for cars. It had been merely a hobby for him before, but Lamborghini decided to turn his hobby into a passion.

So Ferruccio Lamborghini decided to start his own car company. His dedication and Driving force to prove his point to Enzo Ferrari resulted in the Lamborghini 350 GTV, the first car launched in 1963 in Turin motor show by Lamborghini. The name of the car 350 GTV was named after the Ferrari 250 GT just to prove his point to Enzo Ferrari. By the end of 1964, Ferruccio went onto sold his 13 cars. And Rest is a history. Even today Lamborghini and Ferrari are a symbol of wealth, luxury, and speed.

So you may be a successful Entrepreneur but it doesn’t mean you are the master of everything. So Stay humble and keep your eye and ear open all the time to learn new things.
